Paul Asbury Seaman My surname is “Seaman,” so naturally I’m drawn to an album whose theme is the sea. Too much self-described Berlin School music exhibits the beatless style of Alpha Centauri more than the rhythmic beauty of TD’s heyday in the late-70s/early ‘80s. Fritz Mayr—and I have more than 50 of his albums—has always been able to capture the best of both worlds and he’s at his very best here, with soothingly slow sequencer lines that are the perfect balm for these tough times. Favorite track: Isla de Muerto.
